We talked about:

  • £300 fine!!

The union is fining us for damaged cause to a door handle when we received the veggie box delivery. Even though the damage was accidental we’re being charged probably not for a couple of months but so far no details. We have already supported a motion to drop the charge with no success.

Actions

  • Email to union explaining our position and why its a bad idea to charge us for damage.

NIKKI & JUDITH

  • Fundraising to cover the cost and raise money for general Coop DISASTER FUND or projects. Plans for Open Mike and Evening of Entertainment at the Common Place. Possible date Dec 5th

JUDITH

  • and ideas for making money in Coop for next meeting.

 

 

  • People &Planet agenda

The P&P are planning their activities for this year and will concentrate on

  • Large scale campaign against unethical fuel companies like SHELL

or

  • Local campaign about fuel consumption, Transition University initiatives

Do we want to coordinate/work on different campaigns??

Action

We would like a joint meeting with P&P, and will consider local activities and Transition Uni projects. Continue contact and info from P&P weekend Manchester

We will be in the centre of Leeds on the 28th of Nov to persuade shoppers that they don’t need to consume so much to make December Christmassy.

DETAILS in Coop. This is also a chance to prepare for BuyNothingDay. We’ll be doing arts and crafts and DIY pressies.

We are in touch with some other Uni’s who’d like to set up Coops like ours.

YORK are ready to set up.

Get in touch with more groups, Edinburgh & Manchester interested.

P&P meeting this month is an opportunity to talk to ppl who are interested.

FORUM – we’d like to start recording activities and the running of the Coop on our fantastic website.

  • Other Coop stocking issues to be discussed with the person doing the LEMBAS order, or written on a note in the Coop.

  • Royal Park School community takeover. Go and Take a Look!!

The council would like to sell Royal Park Primary School to developers after promising the local community to use it for community purposes. As of this week its being turned into a future Social Centre/Cafe/Arts Space. They need lots of practical help and ideas as well as support so that the council doesn’t close it down straight away!!!
