Events:
On Wednesday 20th January 2010 Leeds City Councillors will debate proposals for reducing city-wide carbon emissions in Leeds to prevent dangerous climate change*. The outcome of the vote on this debate is very important. A city-wide target for Leeds of only 5% carbon reductions by 2020 will not set Leeds on a path of achieving the target of 80% reductions by 2050. A coalition of local groups including Leeds Friends of the Earth, Stop Climate Chaos Leeds, Tidal, and Schumacher North, has been lobbying Leeds City Councillors to commit to city-wide year-on-year reductions with regular monitoring of progress towards a target of at least 40% carbon reduction by 2020.
They're asking people go down and lobby their Councillors, The Council meeting at the Civic Hall will start at 1.30 pm You can find your three Councillors and their contact details using your post code at this website http://www.writetothem.com/
