Earth Days is both a poetic meditation on humanity's complex relationship with nature and an engaging history of the revolutionary achievements -and missed opportunities- of groundbreaking eco-activism. Tenner Films is an independent documentary film company set up to produce work that addresses the big social questions that face us, particularly environmental degradation and global injustice. It’s run by filmmaker Vicki Lesley who will be presenting shorts from her ongoing project 13 Short Films About Atomic Power, a series already including documentaries, an interview with Tony Benn, performance poetry and stop motion animation. She will be presenting a workshop on fundraising, distribution and building projects from the grassroots up.

Synopsis- An anarchic, surrealist classic and one of the most influential Czech movies of the 1960s, Daisies is still a unique cinematic experience. Two young women, both named Marie revolt against a degenerate, decayed and oppressive society, attacking symbols of wealth and bourgeois culture. Described by director, Vera Chytilová as a ‘philosophical documentary in the form of a farce’, the film is about creative energy and playful rebellion, both defiant feminist statement and nihilistic, avant-garde comedy. Synopsis- Come with Leeds Permaculture Network, on a tour of some of the most innovative sustainability projects around the world. Visit Jordanian deserts and Austrian mountains, American prairies and Manchester estates. An eclectic mix of You-tube amateur , DIY community films and 'made for TV' documentaries show how people are dramatically improving local environments and tackling global challenges. Each film will be introduced by a member of Leeds Permaculture, with discussion, stalls, demonstrations, books and some very inspiring films.

Synopsis- Superheroes is an entertaining and subversive snapshot of creative activism, civil disobedience and economic injustice in urban Germany. Figures disguised as comic-book heroes rob delis and distribute their plunder to kindergartens; a student holding down three part-time jobs empties the rubbish bin from the bio-supermarket so she can give her children a proper meal. The film tells the story of these superheroes; the story of the precarious lives of middle-class youths, a story of conformity and resignation, and one of visions and spectacular deeds.
