At Mainshill Solidarity Camp we came together and occupied land facing destruction to defend it. We lived outside, grew as a community, took many actions and cost developers plenty of money. In the 1990s protest sites had some great successes. The anti roads movement caused a massive programme of Sexcam road building to be cancelled by sheer force of numbers taking sites and defending them. Sites such as Nine Ladies and Camp Bling have also won in recent years, completely cancelling planned projects.

We want to focus on the skills needed for this type of direct action with a weekend long event bringing people together to learn and share the skills for living outdoors as a community, building defences, resisting evictions and thinking about strategies for action.
