Karen Inwood , director of IPES (the Permaculture Institute of El Salvador), is giving a talk at the School of Geography on Monday 30 November at 7 pm at the School of Geography Lecture Theatre (School of Geography East building). Her talk will focus on IPES’s efforts to develop the structures and knowledge base to best tackle climate change in rural communities in El Salvador. Karen is an insping speaker.

IPES is an independent organisation of Salvadorian farmers established in 2002 (http://perma.nillian.co.uk/HOME). They are currently working on education and infrastructure work with about 50 communities (they have worked with more in the past), and are developing their new education centre. A main part of their work consists of facilitating the development of knowledge networks within and amongst the communities. They focus on Permaculture education and support to projects, and particularly emphasize on work with women.

We will probably stay at the Geography East building foyer for an informal discussion after the talk, or might move to a nearby pub.
