I hope you all had a great Easter! It has been lovely here on the plots, the days are stretching like a bear coming out of hibernation, hungry for people; come back quick leeds needs you! Snow is still hanging around shivering in the shade but the sun has warmed the earth, the robin is happy for company and you can sense the vitality and energy budding in every corner. The Rhubarb is rearing red heads bull like strong and tender the fruit bushes are unfurling delicate fresh leaves ready to bloom like butterflies.

 - - Let’s Disarm Leeds

 

The corrupt and seriously dubious weapons company is present at Leeds University in careers fairs and research investments.

There is a referendum beginning 11th March where we can vote on the idea to ban BAE from campus.

Digging up the old, preparing for the new

Last Thursday was another productive allotment session unearthing layers of allotment history. Leaf by leaf the story is uncovered each glimpse of the past is helping to write the new. Val is back on the scene and I am off for a while but I am happy that people are getting to grips with the ancient skill of making it up as we go along.

The ethics of a beautiful day

Cycling away into the last of the sunshine today I pondered the ethics of less participation for better weather, to work on Saturday or Sunday? Gliding down the last hill right up to my front door my heart was easy. Like soil, water or animal resources a good day should be respected, looked after and even revered. That’s how we treated this beautiful Saturday. Sorry to those that could have made Sunday! I hope you can make the next day that blesses the plots with such generous pride.
